Valentine's Weekend

I had quite a lovely Valentine's weekend. I once again headed to God's Country--Arkansas. I had a reunion of the Valentine Compact 2008 along with new members Friday night. Good stuff.

Saturday I very much enjoyed going to my younger brother Teddy's rugby game at JBU. I pretty much enjoy it at least, when he's not playing, if he is in I hold my breath the whole time! For those of you who have never met Teddy he is the big red head that looks like he wants to hurt someone.

I spent Saturday night with Teeny and enjoyed many adventures.....

I was very grateful to get to hang out with my friend Ryan (Sweet Tea) again before he heads back to Florida for good. This time we actually got a picture! We also recorded a pretty sweet video for our friend Kristen's bday but I will refrain from posting that here as it is somewhat embarassing, and mainly because I have no idea how to do that.

Awana Derby

Cutie-pie's at my church who competed in the annual derby race for Awana.

Kindela!

Kyndel and some other friends from Lake City came through Tulsa last week on their way to recruit at JBU for Redcloud Camp. I was able to spend all afternoon with Kyndel and it was heavenly. It was also super great to hang out with my friends from Redcloud. It definitely made me ache for Lake City and those incredible San Juan Mountains!

I love country music. That's right, I said it.

I started really liking and listening to country music in the middle of high school. It was always shocking to my friends from home that my family didn't listen to country music and that I was raised on the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel instead of Garth Brooks, mostly because the area of the country I am from. So, I decided to give it a chance and ever since I have been hooked. At college I found that it seemed like something to be ashamed of or embarassed about with all of my cultured and artsy friends. While I still love those artsy people alot I also love Carrie Underwood
. So I've decided to be unabashed about it from now on. For example one of my best friends from my whole life Adrian and I went to a Brad Paisley concert a couple of weeks ago. Dierks Bentley and Darius Rutger (former lead singer from Hootie and the Blowfish, turned country) opened. It was awesome. We danced, sang loudly to every song, laughed with the rather intoxicated people around us and enjoyed the nice looking country singers, oh and their voices. Every one is friends at a country concert!

Darby is a Princess.

My dear Darby was the Junior attendent for Sapulpa High's Mid-Winter. Oh Sapulpa High School, I was having many confusing/hilarious flashbacks while being a part of getting her dress, doing her hair and makeup, attending and enjoying this grand tradition. It's nice to know some things never change about high schools, but it also nicer to know I never have to do them again!
Enough of that. Darby was gorgeous, way more natural and laid back about the whole thing than many of the way too tan and makeup plastered girls who were wearing clothes that overexposed their young bodies (though don't get me wrong, I would have been right there with them when I was their age). Darby and her adored boyfriend Josh did great and I felt very proud and old that night. I am starting to get used to that feeling though, it's a good feeling to experience.
